Projects
Aurora Center brings Nordic people and organisations together across culture, media, and civic life. We believe Nordic unity grows from lived connections, not just from political agreements. Our projects focus on building the ecosystems that make collaboration possible: mapping who is out there, creating spaces where people can meet, and supporting new Nordic initiatives as they take shape.

Across the Nordics, a new generation of storytellers is emerging. Podcasters, YouTubers, independent journalists, and small media collectives already reach large audiences, often with little institutional support. Most of them work in isolation. The ecosystem is fragmented, skills are uneven, and creators rarely meet across borders.
The Nordic New Media Assembly is one step toward changing these realities. Its purpose is practical: to give independent creators across the region a chance to meet, share skills, and begin building an ecosystem that is more connected, more resilient, and more Nordic in its awareness.
By gathering emerging voices in New Media, we create space for collaboration, cross-pollination, and mutual learning. In the long run, it is these creators who will shape how the next generation of Nordics see themselves and each other. If we want a region that truly knows itself, we must first give its storytellers the chance to connect.

The Nordic Civic Mapping Project will provide a clear and structured overview of key civic and cultural actors across the Nordic region. Civic cooperation has always been the foundation for Nordic integration: movements, associations, festivals, and networks laid the groundwork for political collaboration. Yet today, this landscape is fragmented and difficult to navigate across borders.
The project will map, categorise, and connect around non-governmental organisations active in the fields of culture, democracy, independent media, youth, and environment and trust-building. The outcome will be an searchable, multilingual online platform. This platform will directly support Nordic cooperation by making it easier for organisations, funders, and policymakers to find partners, identify gaps, and strengthen collaboration.

Nordenting is the first trans-Nordic civic festival in the history of the region. It’s a five-day gathering where culture, the arts, and community converge. From shared meals with the monarchs to open air saunas, from circles of exchange to music and dance and ritual, Nordenting is a living celebration of what binds the Nordic peoples together.
It is in fact more than a festival. Nordenting is a movement to capture the new sense of Nordic “we-ness” in a fractured world.
The launch is projected to be in the summer of 2027.
